Large amounts of fuel and carbon dioxide are used to create paper and postal services for each customer to get a monthly printed invoice and marketing. Better Telecom offer customers to receive monthly invoices via email saving not just trees but all the environmental damaged caused by cars, trucks and Aeroplanes. |

We strive for a paper free office. The first move was to build our own fax to email server that receives faxes and instead of printing them emailed them so we only print a copy if absolutely required. We build many of our systems so that the use of notes and paper are simply not required |

Massive amounts of used computer hardware is simply discarded around the world each day and becomes hazardous. All Better Telecom servers are recycled ex government computers that are not only top quality but reliable and tested hardware. Keeping the systems running are Linux operating systems that not only are very stable and secure but also make very good use of older hardware. In many cases this hardware is only 3 years old and provides much more power than our business requires thanks to the Linux operating systems. |

We offer our own customers free Fax2Email service on any 1800 number around the country. This also assists our customers in reducing the amount of useless paper printed and discarded each day |

None of our staff drive to work daily. As a policy all staff either live in the local area and or use public transport to reduce the impact on the environment. Many of our staff also work from home. |

We recycle all boxes and shredded paper as packing materials for the many hundreds of items purchased from our online shop. This not only reduces the costs to the customer but assists in recycling waste. |

Our office lighting is low energy florescent bulbs that not only reduces the amount of power used for the output but also the amount of heat generated in our office that our air-conditions would have to cool. Also all lighting is turned off at night something most of our neighbours in the city don't do. |

As a policy we turn off all desktop computers and monitors rather then put them in sleep mode reducing the amount of power used while also keeping our network more secure. |
