Mobile Service Number Can Better Telecom provide me with a new mobile telephone number? Yes Better Telecom can provide you with a new mobile telephone number. If you have a personal preference a short list of available numbers can be provided for your selection.
Can I obtain a special number with double or triple digits?
Better Telecom has access to these special numbers upon request. These are premium numbers which carry a once off establishment fee. Charges for this service are as follows:
Can I keep the same telephone number when I port my mobile across to Better Telecom? Yes mobile number portability has been available for many years. Better Telecom can assist you to keep the same telephone number whilst becoming a customer of Better Telecom.
Can I still port my mobile telephone services to Better Telecom if they have been disconnected by my previous provider? No your mobile telephone services must be still active for Better Telecom to churn them to a Better Telecom account.
SIM Card and Voicemail
Will I retain my voicemail greeting and messages when I port across to Better Telecom?
You will need to check all messages on your previous provider’s service prior to requesting a port of service. Once the service has ported across you will need to set up your voicemail greeting.
Will I keep the same sim card when I port my mobile across to Better Telecom? Better Telecom will provide you with a new sim card designed for access to our network.
How many phonebook contacts can my SIM Card hold? Our Better Telecom SIM Card’s can hold up to 250 contacts.
Will my phonebook remain in my mobile when I change to Better Telecom? If your mobile numbers are saved in your phone, the numbers will not be lost. If your telephone numbers are stored on your sim card, they will not be transferred across to your new sim card. When your old sim card is de-activated the numbers should still be accessible from your old card.
How can I transfer my phonebook from my old sim card to my new sim card?
There are three ways of achieving this:
1. Data Cable: Connect your mobile phone to your computer and backup the phone book to your computer. When the new sim card is activated you can transfer the phone book back off your computer.
2. Internal Phone Transfer: Some mobile phones have a facility to back-up your sim card to the phone memory and re-transfer the phonebook to the new sim card. Check your mobile phone manual to see if this facility is available.
3. Sim Back-Up Device: This device can be purchased from Better Telecom. You insert the existing SIM Card, back up the phone book to the device and then restore the phonebook on to your new SIM Card. Contact customer service today for further assistance.
International Roaming Can Better Telecom provide International Roaming?
Yes International Roaming is available on GSM mobile services. You must request this prior to leaving the country on your service. International Roaming is only provided to customers upon approval by our credit team.
Is International Roaming available in all countries outside of Australia?
International roaming access is only available in other countries where a GSM network is available and an existing relationship exists between the Telstra networks. If you are travelling overseas please contact Better Telecom customer service to clarify network availability in the destination country.
How am I charged for International Roaming calls? All calls made or received whilst roaming overseas divert via Australia out to your destination country. There are two types of calls: 1. Receiving Calls: If a friend calls your mobile number from Australia the call is diverted to the country network you are travelling. Your friend will pay standard mobile call charges whilst you will also be charged for the incoming call at a special rate. 2. Making Calls: If you make a call whilst travelling overseas to a local number or back to Australia, you will be charged for the call. The call costs are determined by the overseas carrier and forwarded back to Better Telecom. All charges for your service will appear on a Better Telecom account. What will the charges be for International Roaming? Better Telecom are unable to provide the rates for International Roaming as these are determined by the overseas carrier and passed through to Better Telecom. There are also many different mobile networks in each different country who all charge at different rates.
